credit card debt
i opened a credit card in 1998 & last paid in 2/02 am i still responsible?

The time for bringing a lawsuit on the credit card debt is 6 years from default.
This is called the statute of limitations (SOL).
In your case it appears the SOL has passed, and therefore your creditor cannot get a judgment in court against you. You still owe the money, they just cannot force you to pay.
