Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

credit card fraud

There has been a person w/my name trying to get credit with my exact social security number. She does not have my birth date right but is very close & she does not have my husbands name.

A couple banks have sent me notices that she has been trying to get these cards & I had to put a fraud alert at credit rating companies which I have done.

Is there anything else I should do? I don't know if it's a crime or not. Is there any way to stop her from using my information?

Thank you for your help. --name removed--
