Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Credit Card Judgement on Joint

I have been paying on a credit card judgement for 4 years that is a joint account. They originally seized my checking account. They said they would continue to go after my ex. I have a divorce agreement stating that I am not responsible for the debt and have paid off more than half of the $12,000 - with the promise of them going after him. Now they say they will not pursue him - even though the judgement is in both names?

Do I have any legal rights to refuse to pay and what can they do?

Re: Credit Card Judgement on Joint

If the account is joint, you are jointly responsible for payment. Your recourse is to seek reimbursement from your ex.

Mike.
