Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

we got behind in out credit card and stated paying them off,well one of the card we owed about $7500.00 and paid $2500.00,just after we got a computer print from them asking to set up payment plan, but didn't not call them,and in june we got another one and computer form from them and my wife called and the said they will settle for $3200.00 and told my wife that and if we did not pay would put a lean on the house take it out of our pay? any help would be great! thanks

Generally --- they cannot put a lien on your home unless there is a judgment. There can be no judgment unless ther is a lawsuit and a default. There can be no default unless you failed to answer a summons and complaint.
