Re: credit

No, but unfortunately there are unscrupolous businesses out there that promise to remove negative info from credit reports. Often this involves challenging legitimate (but negative) info on your credit report such as late pays or judgments. The Fair Credit Reporting Act specifies the requirements for credit reporting bureaus after a "reasoanable investigation" to delete or modify disputed information that is inaccurate or cannot be verfied. If the information is negative but accurate you are stuck with it.

Check out the Federal Trade Commission website for more information about credit repair (their advice is "self help may be the best" thing to do):

For more info about your rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act check out the FTC website at

For info. regarding debtor and creditors' rights matters generally, including collections issues, please free to check out the FAQs on our website at www.starrandstarr.com/faqs.htm

Re: credit

Not that I am aware. Usually negative notations on a credit report must remain on the report for approximately 5-7 years. If the debt was not yours or if there was a mistake made, then you can work with the creditor and reporting agencies to remove the notation.

Please call with any other questions.
