Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Death of an attorney who was handling my case

I Had a case going against a client when the attorney representing me passed away. I tried to enlist another atorney but he could not gain access to my files. How do I go about reinstating this case and gaining access to my files? I trully need legal help with this.

The situation you describe is unfortunate, but not uncommon. Typically, each state has a special office or department just to deal with this type of situation as the potential for client harm for all of the deceased lawyer's clients is great. Doesn't speak well of the new attorney you enlisted that he/she did not follow up to get the appropriate state bar agency/disciplinary committee involved.
