Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York
Employee Responsibility for Workplace Credit Card Fraud
A customer charged airline tickets over the phone using a credit card in January. The customer faxed a copy of the credit card to me as is our protocol. I just found out that the card was used fraudulently. My boss says I am responsible for paying back the charges. Is that true? I thought the company would have to work with the credit card company for repayment. Is there a document that states what rights employees have in such a situation?

Re: Employee Responsibility for Workplace Credit Card Fraud
Under NY Labor law section 193, if you are a W-2 employee, the company (not you) is responsible.
