Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York
I financed a used car through a dealership in partnership with a major bank. Simply put, I did not shop for a bank, the dealer did. Two months later the engine died. I paid those 2 months on time. I sued the dealership, the warranty company and the bank. The dealership settled and the car was returned to them. the warranty company settled. Is there anything I can do to have the bank release me from this debt? So far they have reported me to the credit agencies, resulting in hard hits to my FICO score.

You should write to the credit agency and dispute the charge. Your settlement should have included a bank write off.
