freeze checking account

i had a debt collection agency freeze my checking account and he says he wont let it go till i pay him in full. i was not properly served so i had no idea about court. (i checked the records and it says it was mailed to me in a blank envelope marked personal and confidential. i receive tons of junk mail like this so i just throw it out without wasting time opening it.) i am will ing to pay but in installments he wants 100%. now i cant get to work (60 miles away) because he has frozen my account. what can i do?

You were properly served, even if you do not think so. Your failure to read your mail is your fault.

Work out a 100% payment agreement in writing with the judgment standing as security and a release of all restraints on the account. Offer to pay it overa maximum 24 months. At the end, get a satisfaction of judgment and/or a discontinuance.
