Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

My friend owes me money

The person I was dating borrowed a large sum of money from me, and has yet to pay it back. We haven't signed any papers, all we had is a verbal agreement and witnesses to he agreement. Do we have a case? Would I be able to get at least some of it back? He owes me 9,000 dollars.

This person also financed a TV in my name without my permission. Can I press charges against him?

I would do as much legally now as you can...especially with the financing matter before it gets out of control and your credit is damaged if the other person stops paying and they come after you.
