What laws apply to garnishments the state of residence or place of work?

If it is wage garnishment, the creditor will go after your paycheck in the state you work. If it is property garnishment, the creditor will go after your place of residence. There are federal and state laws for garnishment, so a creditor can garnish your bank accounts, personal assets, property, and possibly other income a debtor receives.
