Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

I am being harrassed by creditors...

My husband is terminally ill and I am legally blind. I lost my job due to my spouses illness so i could care for him at home. I have creditors, specifically First Premier Bank. 8am to 10pm and all the time in between. I explained our financial difficulties and circumstances, but yet they keep hassling me. I believe in paying my debts, but they won't leave us alone so we can deal with it. What can I do to make them stop. Can they freeze my accounts? We are living on SSI, student loans and disability... there is literally no small change to give these wolves....

Re: I am being harrassed by creditors...

You have numerous rights defined by various state and Federal Laws...your problem is finding out what they are and how to use them. Since you are a special circumstance situation (disabilities) you ought to contact your local bar association and request FREE LEGAL ASSISTANCE. There are attorneys who will assist you FOR FREE and stop the harrassment. Good luck
