Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

information subpeana

Does Information Subpeana for Civil Court of the City of New York (SMJ up to $ 25,000) MUST be signed by a court clerk to be valid? If it is NOT signed by a court clerk, does it make it null and void so that a person served by it does not have to respond to it? Also, whether 1st class mail service of subpeana is valid?

Re: information subpeana

A subpoena may issue from an attorney or lawfirm. The attorney is an officer of the court. On its face, it appears lawful.

Information subpoena does not have to be court ordered unless it seeks information from a municipality. This subpoena can be served via registered or certified mail and you have 7 days from receipt of the subpoena to respond.
