Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

I have an investigator contacting me stating that I own some money and I have never recieved any loans from this company. I did recieve a cash advance loan in december and I paid it in full in january. I tried to contact them and they told me that I can either pay the amount they are asking or go to jail.

There is no jail for non-payment of money loaned.
