Judgement on Credit w/o appearing in court

I have a judgment on my credit. I was never served with papers to go to court. I don't dispute that I owe the money. I want to pay & have the judgement removed from my credit as I never had a opportunity to make arrangements prior to to it being placed on my credit. Do I have any recourse to have this removed?

To get the judgment removed you need request the court to vacate it on the basis of no service. Unfortunately you have no meritorious defense so the court may not vacate it. Depending the amount involved, you should retain local counsel to protect your interests.

Since you admit to owing the money and don't want to appear in court and agree to pay the judgment...I guess the thing to do is contact whoever it is who represents your creditor and make payment arrangements! You can make an offer to reduce the amount back to the pre-judgment total...(tell the attorneys you will file a motion to have the judgment thrown out and the case dismissed unless they settle with you for not more than the pre-judgment total...GET SOMETHING IN WRITING FROM THEM THAT THEY WILL SETTLE FOR $whatever and provide you with a satisfaction of judgment when the payment(s) clear and YOU WILL BE DONE. Don't forget to make then PROMISE in writing to file (no charge) a satisfaction of judgment...that clears your credit EVENTUALLY....
