Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

I had a judgement filed against me in 1994 and than refiled in2008 .does the 20 year lien start in 1994 or does a new 10 year period start in 2008 . There is a judgement showing as open I am trying to sell my home but can't get clear title from title company .the property is in n.y

The judgment expired after 10 years in 2004. It could have then been renewed for another 10 years. I believe the renewal in 2008 is ineffective but you will need a judge to decide.
