Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York
judgement
I have recently won a judgement against my self-employed, off the books, cousin who has no assets. his house is in his fathers name, his cars and boats are in his wifes name, and he has no bank accounts.
Is there a way to attatch the judgement to his spouse so as to garnish her wages for repayment or is there any other way to collect from his spouse?

Only if you can prove he became judgment proof to avoid your judgment.
Re: judgement
Collecting on judgments is always a tricky thing. It takes much sleuthing. The amount of effort that should be expended to unturn assets is directly proportional to the amount of the judgment.
If your judgment is significant, it might pay to hire an attorney to try to uncover the assets & see whether they were fraudulently transferred. If the amount is small, then it probably wouldn't pay to undergo the effort.
