Re: judgements

The New York City Marshals Handbook of Regulations (available online at http://www.nyc.gov/html/doi/html/marshals/mar1.html) provides an extensive explanation of what a NYC Marshal may and may not do to enforce a writ of execution with respect to a judgment.

A judgment debtor (person owing $$$ on a judgment) in NY is also entitled to certain exemptions from execution of a money judgment that will typically shelter many/most of the typical possessions found in the home of the "average" middle class New Yorker in NYC (assuming value of property not in excess of permissible exemptions).
