Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Judgment

I am 65 years old and on social security. I work part-time a few hours per week. My social security benefit is direct deposit. I was told that they cannot seize my social security; however if I deposit any other money into my account, can they freeze my account or seize any money from that same account? Thanks.

Re: Judgment

They can freeze even the social security account. It will be your job to prove that the assets are from SS. Therefore, I suggest that you creat a dedicated account just for the Social Security so that it will be easier to go to court and unfreeze this account.

Good Luck
