Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Hello! There is a law firm in nyc called KLEINMAN, SALTZMAN AND BOLNICK, P.C, who just placed a hold on my CHASE bank account, They say the Govt of Canada sent them a judgement against me to proceed with in the usa. This judgement is from non-payment of a student loan 30+ years ago. They have frozen all of my assets, including the use of my safetly deposit box at the bank where I store my financial papers. The judgement is for 33K, and Chase immediately doubled the amount to 66K which is absurd and no one seems to know why they do that? Do I have a case here at all, being the time limits on this very old student load from Ontario, Canada. I have lived in the usa for over 15 years. So freaked out right now.

Would need to see all the papers involved. I assume they obtained a judgment in Canada against you and turned into a NY judgment. The validity issue would deal with the Statute of Limitations.
