Do you remember in which court the suit was filed? Generally speaking, in New York, you should go to the court and ask the civil clerk to see your file. In the file should be what is called an "Infant's Compromise Order" which should include, among other things, an order from the court directing the lawyer to invest the money with a specific bank.
