Can a lawyer advise his client to not pay a loan? (i.e. to stop paying his debt?)

I would never do that, and advise my clients to pay what they are able to pay. However, each situation, and circumstance is different, and there may be a valid reason why an attorney may want to do that. Lenders react differently to non-payment. Every situation must be analyzed individually. Feel free to contact me if you want some more clarification on this.
