If a lawyer puts a lien on your home for an unpaid debt to them, can they make you sell your property?

short answer is "NO". BUT, if you want to sell your home, or re-finance it you would have to pay off the lien first. Liens are judgments. Judgments are finalized debts. They grow larger each year by 9%. you may turn around years from now and find that lien has grown quite large...I would counsel you to settle and make monthly payments...
