Just recently I discovered a legal hold on my checking and savings account. What is my next step?

It depends how the judgment against you was obtained. If you were never properly served with legal papers, you may be able to vacate the judgment and release the restraint on your bank account. Never ignore legal papers received by hand, mail, or on your door!

find out where the judgment was entered and ask the clerk of the court to help you file a motion to have the judgment vacated and the bank account released. If you have any questions, email Mr. Stern as he suggested.
