Re: liens

Q. Can they lien my house in New york?

A. A default judgment filed with the County Clerk in the county where your house is located constitutes a lien on the house. A judgment lien on real property lasts 10 years.

Q. Garnish my salary?

A. Yes, the judgment creditor can also garnish your salary.

Q. If they lien my home is interest accrued until debt is settled?

A. A Judgment lasts for 20 years (lien on real property for 10 years). During that time, interest accrues at 9% per year.

Mike.
