Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Is there a limitation to how many years a merchant or medical professional can wait before they send out a bill? It seems there must be a limit to how late they can wait and have still have the bill be valid in NY State.

In New York State, the statute of limitations for a contract for services is six years.
