Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

loan collectors

i just started having a company called american acceptance calling my house. back about 15 or so years my ex husband and me applied for a loan to purchase a house, shortly after that i left and got a divorce, he stayed in the house. i never recieved anything from the original lender about the loan being in default, i never recieved anything from anyone pertaining to the house for over 15 years then out of the blue this company starts calling and i think it might be about the past although i'm not sure. i do know that for the last 20 years i have had the same job, remarried, have a major credit card, myself and my husband have applied for and recieved a home equity loan. i guess my question is can this be about the past after never having been contacted at all over the years. after i left i never heard anything about the loan and i never had any contact with my ex , can any of this effect my husbands business, can they hold him at all responsible if it is about a loan i had been on before i remarried. i don't understand why after all this time i would be contacted. what should i do? i hate to open a door that i closed so long ago. thank you for your time.

Re: loan collectors

Avoiding it will not help. And until you know more, I cannot really help you out. Call them and find out what it is about, or at least who and what they are. Then email me with the specifics, and I will give you a plan of action.
