Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

How long does a judgment stay with you from a credit card company ? Are you cleared after a set amount of time? I know that bankruptcy is cleared after 7 years.

For someone on disability I understand that they are judgment proof but are they ever able to get out from underneath the judgment? � New York judgment from unsecured loan.

I am unsure if it is 6 or 7 BUT the original creditor will sell the original debt to a debt collection agencies for pennies on the dollar. They will harrass even people who are no longer legally required to pay. Once the person starts paying, a new statute of limitations starts.
