Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Money Owed and Possible Holds

If I owe a company money that I have begun to pay back, but have fallen short on payments, and they put a hold on my bank account, what are some other consequences of this? Can they garnish my wages or take my taxes or anything like that? Can I stop the process by continuing to make payments? I need help and I don't know what to do.
