Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

mother can't pay credit card...social security only income

My mother (over 80 years old and very ill) survives just barely on social security. She has no other assets or income. No savings, either. She lives in my home. She was using a credit card, which she can no longer pay. Unfortunately, I no longer have the resources to help her with the payments. I used to help, but finances have gone down hill. Is her social security protected from collectors? Second question: I am jointly on her checking and savings accounts, so that I can write out the checks and pay bils for her. Because my name is on the joint savings and checking accounts are my checking account assets contained in separate but linked accounts in danger of being frozen by collector, too? thank you.

In the event of a judgment, your assets in the joint account are also able to be frozen. This can be dealt with before hand. Feel free to contact me with your phone number for a free quick consult.

Good Luck
