Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Process Servers

A process server left a card on my door and I responded I told them to mail it to me as I was never home. I got home the next evening and the papers were taped to the front door of my apartment building, not in an envelope, so everyone in my building was able to read the summons I received. Is this legal? Can I take them to small claims for defamation of character? Please advise me.

Re: Process Servers

I do not think you can sue. Nail and Mail is a proper method of serving papers.
