Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

restraining order on my bank acount.

A restraining order has been placed on my bank acount. How is this possible without the collector informing me first? What are my legal rights?

They probably have a judgment and it has been served along with the restraining order and execution on the bank. If so, .your only option is to try to open the judgment; you can only do that within a year of the entry date, if you have a valid defense and good excuse for defaulting.
