Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

never got served but Ruvin and Rothman sent a letter to my office saying I owe over 5000 when I had a local attorney just call as a favor they told him its 9000 he said its not going away. this is dated for 2006 I live check to check my entire family is gone, my sister just died and my parents are gone. I am scared and alone
