Signed student agreement

I signed an areement on may 23 2000 i was sent one book i sent in a payment i moved and 8 years later they want me to pay whatever the lesson cost am i liable

Assuming payment was sent in year 2000 and assuming that the contract you signed was based on NY law, the statute of limitations period to commence an action for breach of contract in NY is 6 years. Therefore, an action under NY law should have been commenced in 2006.

The statute of limitations on a written contract in New York is 6 years. The 6 years has to do with when they can bring a lawsuit, not your liability.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act, allows the credit reporting agencies to report a negative payment history for 7 years.

It appears you defaulted on this debt over 8 years ago. Which means the above statutes have effectively defanged your creditor.
