Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York
Help
I am a single mom who has not received any form of child support in the last five years. I have just received a summons on a back credit card bill of $12,000! I do not have the $$$ to pay it and when I called and tried to ask for a hardship, they told me if I can't make a hefty payment each month then a judgement would be set. I just get by on the $34,000 a year that I make and i mean I BARELY get by.. I dont own anything- becuase I cannot afford too.. Should I file for bankruptcy. My children are 9 and 13.

Re: Help
There can be no automatic judgment...but then hardship is not really an issue either. You MUST answer the complaint to avoid a judgment.
