Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York
I am a small business owner and yday received a call from an attorney reguarding magazines I apparently ordered in 2004 (according to this person) I paid 12 months and now they want the rest of the monies owed them because it was a 2 yr contract, I haven't found all my papers from 04, but she pretty much told me they were going to take me to court for the balance due if I don't settle this for 275.00 now, allot of the info she gave me is correct BUT I ordered from this company in 1999 also so I don't remember renewing the contract and need to know what the statue of limitations is on this type of collection in New York State, Hopefully you can answer this for me

Six (6) years from the date of the breach. If you failed to pay for the magazines in 2000, the period to sue expired in 2006.
Mike.
