Small Claims

If I have filed for a case here in NY and I move to another stated . Can I take the case to the state I am moving to even though the party I am taking to court lives here in NY?

This is a case of a car that I purchase but the car is under some one else's name. I was supposed to pay for insurance but I didn't pay . But I pay $1400 for the car. Please reply

If the action is on the small claims schedule, then you may (as the plaintiff) withdraw the petition and re-file in another jurisdiction. You may be required to re-file in regular court and not small claims (there are geographic restrictions on the authority of small claims court).

If you are the defendant, then you may be required to defend in the original small claims court.
