can social sercurity checks be frozen at the bank

My friend oues an outstanding debt for credit card use. She no longer works and has only her social security checks as her only income. A attorney had her bank freeze her account which is under $400.00 dollars.The bank notified her that they would freeze her social sercurity checks. Can they do this. She is 80 years old and has no other income. thank you

No. She may have to go to court to get a Judge to sign a piece of paper that says that her Social Security checks cannot be taken. If the account is owned by someone else and the social security checks are deposited into it, they can be held...SHE HAS TO GO TO COURT AND EXPLAIN TO THE JUDGE THAT THE FUNDS IN THE ACCOUNT ARE SOCIAL SECURITY. GO NOW!
