Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

status -financial

i am ill, 79yrs old and unable to work any longer, i only

have social security as income. Am i judgment proof as to any bills(credit card)I can no longer pay? in new york.

And how do I go about notifying the company. I am homebound

and unable to get to a law clinic.

Being "judgment proof" doesn't mean the credit card co's won't file/get judgments against you. Just means they won't be able to collect. If you own a house, they can/will lien it after judgment. If you do not own anything of value and have no source of income besides SSI, write to them and explain this. They may be willing to "write-off" the debt.
