Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York
What steps do I take after answering a summons?
I recently was served a summons for a 2 yr old credit card debt. I will be answering the summons. i was wondering how soon after me answering, will I receive a court date? and/or what are the steps involved prior to going to court. I plan I representing myself and I know I do owe the debt.

It depends on the court. Normally, a pro se litigant in District Court or Civil Court would receive a court date within a couple of months after filing a pro se answer.
