Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

strange notice from sheriff's law enforcement bureau

My husband just received via regular mail a notice from the office of the sheriff to pick up documents issued 'out of court.' There is a sentence stating 'if you receive this letter after a deputy sheriff has served documents at your residence or place of employment please contact me' - there is a name of a deputy listed with a phone number. No papers have been personally served on my husband. Is this legitimate? What could this be about?

Is the notice from the County Sheriff of the county that you live in?

If you would like, I would review the document for you (no charge). Fax or email it to me.

If you have a specific question send me an email.
