Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

summons for old debt

I received a consumer credit transaction summons for a debt that I am not sure I even owe? prior to this I responded tothe law firm asking for proof of the debt and did not get a response. Please advise. thank you

You must serve an answer to the summons. I would direct you to retain counsel. If you don't have the money for a lawyer, you can go to the clerk's office and ask for help to serve and file an answer.
