The credit card company can seek payment from the estate. It is the responsibility of the estate to pay the credit card before distribution to the beneficiary. If the money is transfered to the beneificiary before the debt is paid, the creditor may seek payment from the beneficiary under the NYS Debtor - Creditor law.
