Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Vehicle Repossesion

I co-signed for a car that was repossesed. Now I am trying to find out how much the car was sold for at auction. Noone seems to have any information regarding this. The county clerk where a judgment was made has nothing in the file regarding aution price. Ford motor co. told me it was none of my bussiness where and when the aution was and to call the law firm. The law firm has no record of an auction, and the NY state DMV said they don't have anything to do with that. This happened back in the yr. 2,000 so i don't know if this infomation is even still out there but the amount of the judgment exceeds the price of the car. So i would really like to know what happened. Can you give me some other ideas of where to look for the auction price of the car. I did get the vin number from a very nice intern at the law firm. I hope she doesn't get in trouble.

Re: Vehicle Repossesion

The auction price is m,ost likely the amount lest on the contract at the time of rep less the amount of the judgment (give or take a few hundred for fees and repo costs).

Good Luck
