Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

I have a 2008 bench warrant for possesion of marijuana in brooklyn, ny. I have a 2009 warrant in CA for dui/hit and run/possesion. Im in NY and would like to take care of the ny warrant but i dont want to go to jail because of the CA warrant. Is there anything I can do?

Well, you are in a jam for sure. Either way you will held to satisfy the other warrant. An attorney may be able to negotiate with both jurisdictions to avoid jail time. You must hire a lawyer immediately before you get picked up. If you are arrested you will not get bail.

if the charges against you are only misdemeanors, they would probably not come up in another state. If one is a felony and the other is a misdemeanor, take care of the felony first.
