Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

2 DAT= what will happen to me?

So I have 2 counts of petit larceny charges both received DAT and have the same court date, and I was wondering what would be the outcome when I go to the court? given that i have no prior criminal record. would it be better if i try to convince ADA to charge each count seperately, or worse? thanks.

You should retain an attorney before going to court. If you are being charged as an adult then petit larceny is a class "A" misdemeanor and carries a possible sentence of up to one year incarceration. An experienced attorney should be able to negotiate a suitable disposition on your behalf.

It is essential that you have some idea before hand what youre getting into. If you have no prior record the likelyhood is that a competent attorney could get you a very good disposition to such a case.

If you can afford to hire an attorney i would suggest you do so immediately so that the date of court your case could quite possibly end and you can simply get past this point in your life...
