Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

7 days ago in Las Vegas my daughter was raped. We live in New York. Emergency Room records are in Las Vegas as well as the policy report. The guy with a records from priors was caught and id from line up and was jailed, out on bail. She was told by police the file report is there if she is to prosecute. My question: to prosecute would it all needs to be in Las Vegas and how do I get an attorney: from Las Vegas or some firm in New York with an office in Las Vegas? She is very upset now and I need to know the window time span before it would be too late to pursue this case. Thank you.
