If this is not simply a hypothetical question, but rather a real situation, the defendant really needs to get a good lawyer to protect his/her rights and get the best possible deal, regardless of what the statute says.

The maximum is 25 to life and the minimum is 15 to life. However, given the current state of the parole board usually the minimum usually ends up being about 20 years.

Indeterminate sentence of fifteen to life at the bottom and 25 to life at the top end.
