Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
My 17 year old daughter was working at a grocery store, the police sent in a 20 year old to buy beer. My daughter looked at the ID, thought she was old enough, overrode the computer when it asked her for a birthdate and sold her the beer. My daughter now has an appearance ticket for court. She has never been in trouble before, not even in school and she is terrified that she is going to jail and I don't know what to tell her. We have spoken to a couple of lawyers but we are not getting any real answers, all the answers we get sound like they are being read from a card. She is good girl who made a mistake and deserves answers she can trust from someone who will listen to her, realize she is a person who made a mistake and be honest, not just try to make a buck.

I have handled cases like this before. Your daughter is not going to jail and there may be ways to get the case dismissed. Feel free to contact me if you are looking to hire a lawyer. My number is 212-577-9797.
It is very possible to defend your daughter without her not having a criminal record. Since your question does not indicate where the incident occurred , it is impossible to offer any more specific defense theories. .I handle matters such as yours on a daily basis, so feel free to call my office @ 718-834-0087 for a free phone consultation
