Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
a 16 year old male was using self defense on an overly large adult when two of his friends decided to jump in and join. The adult was beaten pretty badly ( bruises, scratches) but needed no hospital help. The adult decided to press charges on them. How long would one of the 16 year old get. His bail is 7,500 if that would help make an estimate of his discharge. This is in the state of New York by the way. Oh and would it be possible that the 16 year old can get 45 days to 90 days in county for this altercation.?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Bail is not an indicator of what a person's sentence may ultimately be. I really think you need to consult with an attorney in person to sort through the facts and develop a defense rather than have an attorney without a full command of the facts of your case answer your questions online.
